Not to mention the plant compounds that may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Some studies suggest that eating parsley can improve digestion, support heart health, and aid in weight loss.
Therefore, our kitchens should never be without a good amount of parsley. But how can we make sure that it is always fresh and stored properly? We will reveal a chef’s secret.
How to store parsley
The first step is to wash the parsley in water. During this step, remove any leaves and twigs that look dry or damaged. After washing the parsley, spread it out on several sheets of paper towels to dry.
Fill the jar halfway with water, preferably from a glass, as it preserves the food better. At this point, as if you were cutting flowers, dip the parsley stems into the jar. Then, cover the top with a plastic bag, the same type used for freezing food. Secure the plastic bag with an elastic band, which you will then place around the top of the jar.
Using scissors, cut the two outer sides of the bag to allow air circulation. At this point, you can put the glass jar of parsley in the refrigerator. Ideally, you should place it in the bottle slot on the inside of the refrigerator door.
If you don’t have enough space in your refrigerator, another way to keep parsley for longer is to chop it and put it in a glass jar. Before closing the jar, place a sheet of paper towel between the lid and the opening. The jar can be placed in the refrigerator, preferably upside down.
